Some of the more popular activities are:

Deep-sea fishing -- offered at Shelly Beach & Port Edward (close to Southbroom)

Dolphin / whale watching -- southern right whales and humpback whales appear around the South African coastline from May to December and can be seen interacting in sheltered bays and coves close inshore and near river mouths. Southbroom has many elevated vantage points from which to enjoy the whales - the White Shores Guesthouse is one of them! Several coastal dolphin species can be seen throughout the year.

Golfing / golf courses -- The KwaZulu-Natal South Coast is also commonly referred to as the "Golf Coast", blessed with nine superb 18-hole Golf Courses. Five of the Top 50 golf courses in South Africa are situated within a 45 minutes drive of Southbroom & the White Shores Guesthouse. The Southbroom Golf Course is one of the finest golf courses to be found anywhere in KwaZulu Natal and offers spectacular sea and surf views from the 4th and 5th tees.

Beaches -- Swimming & Surfing -- Southbroom boasts two recognised swimming beaches and the coastal walk between them is truly spectacular thanks to the pristine condition of the primary dunes. Its two tidal pools further ensure that the needs of every beachcomber are satisfied.

Bird watching -- Southbroom is a bird lover's paradise with a myriad of habitats to explore.

Diving / shark diving -- Launching from Shelley Beach, the Protea Banks reef is rated as one of the world's best shark diving spots. Species encountered on the reef include: Bull (Zambezi), Tiger, Hammerhead, Thresher, Copper, Dusky, Ragged Tooth, Black Tip, and even the odd Mako shark. There is also a variety of reef fish, ribbon tail skates, moray eels, spotted eagle rays, manta rays and large schools of pelagic fish. Depending on the season one can also see dolphins and whales.

Horse riding -- A number of operators offer horse trails through the coastal bush or along the beaches, including the Oribi Gorge and overnight trips along the Eastern Cape Wild Coast.

Nature reserves -- There are a number of nature reserves in the area offering hiking trails, picnic sites and bird watching -- Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve and the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve are the most well known.

Chartered flights & microlighting -- trips on microlight aircraft allow guests to view and photograph the magnificent scenery of the South Coast from the air.

Hiking trails -- Oribi Gorge, just inland from Port Shepstone, has some excellent hiking trails.

Mountain biking / MTB trails -- Mountain bike trails are offered around Port Edward, and adjacent to the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve. Exciting overnight trails are offered into the Wild Coast, just across the Umtamvuna River.

The sardine run -- (June / July) -- When the sardine run gets going in June / July, Southbroom is the place to be. Schools of up to 500 dolphins make a spectacular sight and can often be seen at play during the sardine run. The guest house is a perfect vantage point!

River bend Crocodile Farm -- One of the South Coast's most popular attractions and home to some of South Africa’s the largest crocodiles. The farm also has an enlightening information centre, art gallery and restaurant.

Wild Coast Sun Casino -- A popular entertainment destination located just south of Southbroom.

Arts and crafts -- Original paintings, hand-crafted pottery, beadwork and jewellery from some of South Africa's top artists and crafters can be found in the local galleries.

Dining / Restaurants -- Southbroom has number of good restaurants to choose from.

Extreme adventure -- The more adventurous can enjoy the exhilaration of abseiling by doing the 101 metre rock face at the Oribi Gorge or the king swing, or white-water rafting!

All our rooms have an air con, a fan, a minibar fridge, a tv ( dstv bouquet) dvd player,( dvd's available) a safe, a hair dryer, a veranda, the twin rooms do not have a minibar fridge or a dvd player. We have a lady who comes and gives massages, reflexology, facials,manicure, etc.. We hold conferences for up to 16 people, and weddings for up to 50 people

Our conference venue is ideal for groups of up to 15 people - take the whole place and have your own private party! Talk to us about hosting your next conference or team building event. We also host small weddings - sleeping up to 16 guests.

Located in Southbroom, on the South Coast of KwaZulu Natal, the White Shores conference venue offers conferencing facilities for up to 15 delegates. Positioned on a headland above the beach, this stunning South Coast conference venue is only an hour and a half from Durban; 12 km from Margate and 23 km from Port Shepstone. Although access is by road only, conference delegates can fly to Durban (SAA and many other airlines) or Margate (SA Airlink). We can arrange for transfers from Margate Airport to Southbroom.

CONFERENCE PACKAGE 2006
White Shores is a Luxury Five Star Guest House with 8 guestrooms, each with en-suite bathroom, direct access to a private beach and secure parking. As mentioned above, our conference venue can seat up to 15 delegates. Although we do have a standard offer (listed below), we are happy to tailor our conferencing package to your needs.

Directions

From Durban airport, take the n2 south direction Port Shepston, eventually the N2 becomes the R 61 direction Pt Edouard, you will eventually see a set of traffic lights indicating " Southbroom North" DO NOT TURN THERE, go through the traffic light at the next exit it will say " Southbroom South", turn left and then first right " Outlook Road" down 1km1/2 we are on the left.
