Caravan and Tent Sites

Tugela Mouth Resort offers 39 caravan and tent sites demarcated by natural hedges. Each site has its own braai facility, light, power point and tap. We have shaded and full sun caravan sites to choose from. Our sites are grouped nearby one another, making it a more intimate and sociable atmosphere. Our holidaymakers can get together and braai with new friends, making long-term relationships that come back year after year. Our caravan sites are also very suitable for caravan clubs, where they can arrange their caravans close to one another as one big social group.

Chalets / Wooden Cabins

Our rustic wooden chalets come in a variety of sizes to suit your pocket. We have 3 budget chalets being one-roomed chalets with a built-in caravan next to it. We have 2 middle of the range chalets, which have 2 bedrooms. We have two sea view chalets with 2 bedrooms, own bathroom, toilet and top deck where you can sit and enjoy the view even more from on top of the chalet.

There are 4 chalets which is ideally suited for people wanting absolute peace and quiet, and a little more privacy. The chalets are conventional and are not wooden. They have 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom, self-catering kitchen, a verandah with a braai facility and are all fully furnished.

All our chalets are fully self-catering with a two-plate stove, kettle, toaster, cutlery, fridge, deepfreeze and some with small ovens. Our chalets are artistically decorative and fully furnished. At each chalet there is a braai facility with a table and chairs where one can relax after a hard days fishing.

Houses

We have 5 holiday houses, 4 of which have sea views and are closest to the beach, approximately 300m to the sea. All houses are fully self-catering with oven, fridges, cutlery etc. Our houses have 3 or 4 bedrooms and can accommodate larger groups of up to 10 people. For example, they are ideal for fishing clubs, church groups or very large families. Each house is artistically decorated to an african/fishing theme, leaving a personal touch for our holidaymakers to enjoy. All houses have their own bathrooms, toilets and braai facilities.

The Tugela Mouth Resort is surrounded by a 24hr electric fence and 8 CCTV cameras positioned in various places for the safety of our holiday intercom system at both main gates and both gates are remote controlled. Staff can be organized for anyone needing household cleaning to be done. The Tugela Mouth Resort is set in a tranquil and peaceful setting, creating the ideal “get away from it all” atmosphere.

Fishing
Tugela Mouth Resort is well known for the excellent fishing opportunities to be had from the shore, on the banks of the river or from a boat. Daga Salmon of 50kg +, Garrick of 24 kg + and sharks over 200 kg is not uncommon in our waters. Tugela Mouth Resort offers excellent fishing throughout the year, with the different species being targeted at different times of the year.

Birdwatching
With over 260 species of birds already identified, Tugela Mouth Resort is a birdwatchers paradise.

Swimming/Games
Although swimming is allowed in the sea, please take note that Tugela Mouth do not have lifeguards on duty and there are no shark nets present. Even without shark nets, we have not had a known shark attack in the history of Tugela Mouth Resort.
If you do not wish to swim in the sea, our two swimming pools, offer young and old the opportunity to swim, tan or play. Our games room, which features 2 pool tables, a dart board and numerous other games will ensure that you always have something to do.

Braai Facilities
Tugela Mouth Resort offers peace and tranquility, with big luscious green trees and enough shade you can be sure to have peacefull braais with family, newly found friends and with nature. Our strict policies with regards to noise and other little irritations will ensure that you can enjoy your holiday without any incidents.

Every year Tugela Mouth hosts the Tugela Raft Race which has grown to become a big attraction.

Whales are abundant between October and November and during this time huge numbers of whales can be seen very close to shore. Sea turtles can be seen throughout the year.
